Credo che il ritratto, in ultima analisi, non sia una semplice rappresentazione. È qualcosa che evoca la persona. Ritroviamo lei in quella forma.
Ho fatto un ritratto di una persona a me cara cercandola in tutte le opere presenti nel Gombrich. Un particolare sullo sfondo, l’espressione su un viso, un’azione dei personaggi... una sensazione. In tutta la Storia dell’Arte c’è qualcosa di lei.

I believe that the portrait, in the final analysis, is not a simple representation. It is something that evokes the person. We find her in that form.
